Goodheart and Willcox are, convincingly, experts in auto technology as well as excellent writers and illustrators. As a certified master auto and truck technician, I often refer my customers to this book for straightforward understandable explanations of the goings on under the hood. When my customer understands how a system operates, he or she is more willing to accept a diagnosis, because it makes sense and the black magic attitude is gone. The automotive encyclopedia has been available since the 70's and each addition is packed with the latest developments that the car manufactures employ to make cars more, fun, economical, and, necessarily, more complex. Goodheart and Willcox are to be congratulated on this and past editions of this wonderful reference guide. Just wonderful.

Excellent bite sized tidbits of history presented in an interesting format. Inside you will find a map of the Aztec empire, articles detailing every day life of the Aztec from agriculture, the Spanish invasion, war, the ball game, a guide to the ancient city of Tenochtitlan, a girl talk section, food and classifieds that provide an insight to the culture. What a great series! I purchased a copy as a gift for my 9 year old niece and was so impressed that I am purchasing the whole series for her! What a find! A clever and delightful way to introduce history to youngsters.

I am in the process of doing a school project on the Aztec and this book has all the info I need! I would recomend this book to anyone! It has everything enterusting in it, there is not one boring word!

Baby Blues Unplugged is the fifteenth collection of uproariously funny Baby Blues newspaper comic strips syndicated in 750 newspapers, 25 countries, and in 14 languages all over the world. A skewed yet satisfying look at the travails of harried parents and their two children (an elementary-age girl and a toddler boy), who seem determined to test every limit there is in this laugh-out-loud compilation. A little gross humor concerning bodily functions appears, as parenting young ones is most assuredly not meant for the hygienically squeamish, -- but overall Baby Blues Unplugged is good clean fun!

ONce again, Kirkman and Scott have hit the nail on the head as far as new parents go. Zoe and Hammie are up to their usual tricks in this scrapbook, only they are a little older now and into the toddler/preschool age and it's just hilarious! I have 3 kids of my own and this brings me more and more laughs.....

Especially the one where Zoe says, "This doesn't taste nearly as bad as it smells!" I can certainly relate. These cartoons just get funnier and funnier and I will certainly buy every book that comes out! Don't miss this one if you're a Baby Blues fan or if you have any kids or grandkids or want kids someday!

After reading the books in this series, you'll never forget the smell of wet sneakers, and you'll secretly run off and buy yourself a chemistry set in the hope of something magical happening. I loved these books as a kid.

Am I the only one who knows of these books? As a young boy (9 or 10) I read the whole series about witchcraft and baseball. Even inspired me to join little league. If you get the chance, get these books to read for yourself or your children!

BATMAN BEYOND: HEAR NO EVIL is written like a comic book. The use of panels and word balloons draw an early reader's eye on, and the layout makes the story fun to read out loud. The art is really well done, showing lots of action and color.

This book is recommended for young fans of the BATMAN BEYOND cartoon.

Oh my, what a delight. This little book is going off to all my friends in the field of sustainable development, including a small group who think apiculture is one way to peace. Thank you Mr. Scott for this gem.

Concisely written, fascinating facts about bee behavior. After each little nugget of information is a pithy moral to provoke thought on human behavior and how we might be better off emulating the bees. A great little book to include in a graduation gift.

Scott Lindquist does not mince words. He gets to the point, talking about a dirty subject in real terms. Not long-winded or swamped with cold statistics or vague descriptions of personal rights violations. Because of his to-the-point manner, Scott's book quickly covers what is important: The campus rapist profile, the escalating steps to the rape and the cover up shame. Good piece of work.

In this profession of trying to educate young people about the dangers of dating, I am very pleased to have come across this book. Mr. Lindquist has put together all the information anyone would ever need to survive the dating scene or to survive a tramatic assault. There are many techniques that I myself use in speeches, it's good to know that we are on the same track. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It gives a sense of ease to a hard subject.

This book is now one of my favorites. It is right up there with (The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker) and (The Store by Bentley Little). Let me start by saying I am a great admirer of the Sci-fi, Horror fiction genre (this book is a great mixing of the two). It's a story that takes place on Mars in the year 4,000 B.C. with enough monsters and plot twists to keep David Lynch happy. Not to mention one hell of a cliff hanger ending that just screams sequel. This is the first I've heard from Scott Daven , and hopefully it's not the last.

"Los Angeles is now the apparel manufacturing center of the United States" (page 16). 2,900 sewing companies work in LA for the 185 firms. Sadly, the apparel manufactureres use sweatshops.

According to Dr. Bonacich and Dr. Appelbaum, a "sweatshop" is a factory that fails to pay a living wage and does nto allow a worker to purchase a house and health care(page 11). Sadly, workers make less than the poverty line of $7,200 a year. Hence, concerned citizens like us wonder how sweatshops come to be and exist?

Again, according to Dr. Bonacich and Dr. Appelbaum, sweatshops are caused by 1) a high turnover in styles (14), 2) low tech tools, such as sewing machines, 3) the neglect of union representation, 4) cheap start-ups in other countries, 5) cheap labor, and 6) bossy retailers. The authors write, "Thousands of contractors can produce small lots rapidly. The city's industry is primed for the production of fashion at cheap prices" (p. 18). Thus, Los Angeles is the "sweatshop capital of the U.S" (p. 19).

A city of sweatshops is not a healthy city. ""Polarization is destructive to society." A Chinese person making $25.00 a month cannot afford $100 pair of shoes" (p. 24). Furthermore, immigrants do not have access to politicians, since wealthy people can buy lobbyists and call the govenor and threaten to move the industry. 2.9 million Angelinos make less than $20,000 yr.

The solution to sweatshops is to spread the cost-cutting activities in every area of apparel manufacturing. "Yet cost cutting is never aimed at the executives professionals or profits." As a result, "the garment industry is a throwback to the earliest phases of the industrial revolution" (p. 14).

I hope the supervisors in the valuable garment industry read this fine book.

This is an outstanding book that should be read by policy makers, academics, activists and elected leaders. Great effort and job. This is the best book on the subject.

I found this book wonderful. It was a good look at the changes that occur in a girl's life when she becomes deaf after contracting meningitis. What I thought was especially well done was the internal conflict she experienced over "straddling" the deaf and hearing worlds, as well as the denial experienced by her parents about her hearing loss. If you can get a copy of this book, try to do it.

In "Belonging" this girl came up with a disease called Metingitis, she is now deaf and learns about deaf people. This book made me think that some people aren't as fortunate as us.
